Diane Hoffer-Schurecht, "Kayak Center." The project site is located at the South Turning Basin of the Chicago River, which is the intersection of three waterways. In addition, the site is located at the intersection of three land usage types: residential, industrial, and public lands. 2 of 4.

The design of the Kayak Center seeks to connect all three usage types: the upper level/street side is scaled to the modest residential structures across the street , while the river side is two levels, expansive, and engages the openness of the turning basin. 3 of 4.
