Building on the success of the CS department's 40th anniversary celebration in 2011, the department held the first of its new-established annual reunions of IIT CS alumni, faculty and friends.

The event was held on October 29 and 30, 2012 and featured a distinguished lecture delivered by Dr. Jack Dongarra, CS alumnus and National Academy of Engineering member, along with panels reminiscing on the past and discussing future opportunities for both the department and computer science in general.

Computer Science at IIT: Where Can It Take You?

Computer Science at IIT: Where Can It Take You

At IIT, we teach you the foundations of computer science, so you will be able to quickly adapt to new technologies. For example, the programming languages of today may well be out of vogue in a few years, but understanding programming paradigms and when each is most applicable will enable you to keep up with the fast pace of change.

Beyond the fundamentals, IIT offers focused study in many areas of computer science, with courses in areas that include data mining, information security, artificial intelligence, and distributed computing. For bachelor's students, we also offer formal specializations in information security and in information and knowledge management systems. (In fact, the National Security Agency has designated IIT as a Center of Excellence in information assurance.) We also offer a master of science, a professional master's with 11 specializations, and a Ph.D. If you have a bachelor's degree and just want to extend your knowledge, we also offer non-degree graduate study and graduate certificates, both of which can be applied to a master's degree later on, if you wish.

CS Degrees, Certificates, and Non-Degree Study
