IIT Alert on Mobile Phones
IIT Alert is a self-service, web-based, mass notification system that will enable the university to send instant alerts simultaneously to all students, faculty and staff, no matter where they are. This new system allows IIT to communicate emergency broadcasts and school closings immediately to the individual's cell phone, Blackberry, wireless PDA, text pager, personal email (optional), and RSS reader. This system will complement IIT's existing communication system (mass email, myIIT portal, IIT Today), allowing the university to reach the IIT community at a moment's notice.

IIT Alert Mobile App for iPad/iPod Touch
The IIT Alert Mobile app for Apple devices extends the university emergency notification system to iPod Touch and iPad. Devices connected to a wireless network with this app installed will receive the same instant emergency communications sent to the university community via IIT Alert. The app also features emergency contact info for all IIT campuses and links to the campus Crisis Response Plan.
The IIT Alert mobile app to your iPad, iPod Touch, or iPhone is available in the myIIT portal under the Training and Support tab in the "Download IIT Apps" channel. Devices running iOS 4 can install the app directly from a link, while those running earlier versions will need to sync with iTunes. iPhone users can register their phone number with IIT Alert and install the IIT Alert Mobile app (though only one is necessary).
After installation, be sure to run the IIT Alert Mobile app and allow notifications to your device when prompted. If you turn off notifications on your device, you will not receive pop-up warnings when an emergency alert is sent. If other apps on your device use notifications you don't wish to receive (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), you are advised to turn off the notification feature on those individual apps instead of your entire device, to ensure you receive IIT Alert messages.
