Office of Public Safety
- Patrol officers scheduled on campus and nearby public transportation stations
- Staff works with local law enforcement. Central Chicago Police Headquarters is located 4 blocks from campus
- Security escorts available anytime, anywhere on campus
- Emergency phones and auto defibrillators installed on and around campus

University's mass notification service
- Instant alerts to individual mobile devices
- Wireless emergency contact information for all campuses
- All incoming freshmen and transfer students receive iPads with IIT Alert App
IIT Crisis Response Plan and Website Communication
- Full crisis response plan available and distributed annually. Also available online here (PDF)
- Backup website systems and network services in place to ensure Web communications if on-campus resources are disrupted
Health & Wellness
- After hours, non-emergency needs available at a neighboring urgent care facility
- Medical emergencies are referred to nearby Mercy Hospital
- Student Assistance Program — resources to balance the challenges of college life available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by telephone or Web
- Community Support Team — assists the IIT Community when there is evidence of or concern for troubled behavior of a student, faculty, or staff member
