Martin Kilpatrick

Chemist and academician. Kilpatrick chaired IIT's chemistry department from 1947 to 1960, leading the department to national prominence in both undergraduate and graduate instruction and in faculty research. As a scientist, he made his mark in fundamental chemical research. IIT's annual Kilpatrick Lectures honor Kilpatrick and his wife, Mary, who was a chemistry faculty member from 1947 to 1964.
