Admission Requirements
Below is a list of the materials you will need to submit for all College of Architecture graduate degree programs. The Admissions Committee will not review application packets until all of the required materials have been received. We strongly encourage applicants to submit their admission materials together in a single package to avoid delays in processing. Only the application form, fee, and letters of recommendation may be submitted through the university's online application system.

International applicants requiring a student visa to study in the U.S. will also need to submit a Financial Affidavit of Support. We encourage applicants to submit their Financial Affidavit of Support along with the admission requirements listed above. International applicants can have their file reviewed without financial documents on file; however, they cannot be formally admitted to the IIT College of Architecture until a valid Financial Affidavit of Support with a copy of their current passport is on file with our office.

Master of Architecture (M.Arch.), Professional Degree
Master of Landscape Architecture (M.L.A.), Professional Degree
Applications to the professional programs are accepted only for entry during the fall semester. The application deadline for the Fall 2013 term is January 4, 2013. Applications must be postmarked by the deadline in order to be considered for scholarships. Admission decisions for all applications arriving by the January 4th deadline will be issued in March. Late applications will be accepted if space is available, but the admission decision will depend upon the admission committee’s review schedule. All applicants will need to submit a portfolio to receive an admission decision.

Master of Science in Architecture (M.S.Arch.), Post-Professional Degree
Applications to the Master of Science in Architecture program are accepted only for entry during the fall semester. The application deadline for the Fall 2013 term is January 4, 2013. Admission decisions for all applications arriving by the January 4th deadline will be issued in March. Late applications will be accepted if space is available, but the admission decision will depend upon the admission committee’s review schedule. All applicants will need to submit a portfolio to receive an admission decision.
In addition to the standard requirements for graduate admission, applicants for the Master of Science in Architecture program must submit a Topic Proposal outlining their potential research interests. Students interested in pursuing the Master of Science in Architecture with a specialization in Sustainable New Cities should indicate their interest in the specialization on their application. A personal interview with the director of the degree program is highly recommended.

Master of Integrated Building Delivery, Post-Professional Degree
The application deadline for the Fall 2013 term is January 4, 2013. Admission decisions for all applications arriving by the January 4th deadline will be issued in March. Classes are held in the evenings and weekends, allowing for a part-time option.
Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture (Ph.D.)
Applicants are accepted in the fall and spring terms. The application deadline for Spring 2013 is November 15, 2012. Fall 2013 applications are being accepted with a priority deadline of January 4, 2013, and a final deadline of April 15, 2013.
Applicants should meet all admission requirements, plus a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale; a TOEFL score of at least 80 IBT (International students only); and at least three letters of recommendations from immediate supervising professors plus an additional list of references. Applicants should also submit a statement of purpose indicating a subject of study or research work and should provide a portfolio demonstrating the qualities of his or her accomplishments and expertise.

Graduate Admitted Student Weekend
Friday, April 12 - Saturday, April 13
All Fall 2013 admitted graduate students are invited to attend our Graduate Admitted Student Weekend. Activities include faculty presentations, facilities tours, and an architectural boat tour of Chicago.
Registration information
Individual Campus Visits
We invite you to visit the College of Architecture to view our facilities, meet with admissions staff and see the student work in progress. Individual visits may be scheduled by contacting us at arch@iit.edu or 312.567.3230. We recommend visiting on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 1:30 pm and 4:00 pm when architecture design studios are in session.
