Ray Trygstad
Information Technology and Management
Ray Trygstad, instructor in Information Technology & Management and IT Director of IIT's Center for Professional Development, joined IIT to teach Navy ROTC while a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy, where he was a Computer Systems Management subspecialist and had formal Navy training and experience in information security. Trygstad's information security experience goes as far back as 1988, when he conducted his first information security audit, and his web development experience dates from the dawn of the World Wide Web; he created and maintained the original homepage for the U.S. Naval Academy and was an original member of the Board of the World Wide Web Virtual Library.
He is currently building what will be the first 10GBASE-T (10 gigabit over copper cable) Ethernet academic computer lab in the world on IIT's main campus. Proud to be in a program that encourages faculty to stay ahead of the latest developments in the field, Trygstad's students regularly graduate with honors and go on to high-profile technology positions for major institutions.
