Cialenco Wins 2011 Dean's Award for Research

Igor Cialenco, assistant professor of applied mathematics, was honored with the 2011 Dean’s Award for Excellence in Research/Scholarship at a banquet held last fall.

Cialenco won for his groundbreaking work on statistical inference for stochastic partial differential equations – including one of the most difficult and important systems of equation in mathematics and physics, the Navier-Stokes equations for fluid flow.

Michael Machen (AMAT 4th year) was also honored for his CSL Summer Research Stipend work with Professor Xiaofan Li on "Numerical Methods for Poisson-Nerst-Plank Equations with Applications in Ion Channels".
