Math Faculty Member Wins Prestigious Bauer Family Teaching Award
Senior Lecturer David Maslanka has been chosen for the the 2008 Bauer Family Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. He was selected for this student-nominated award based on his dedication to student success and understanding of their coursework.
Dr. Maslanka has had a long career devoted to helping freshmen succeed in their critical first year. As an instructor of many entry-level math courses, he has consistently achieved very high ratings. A large number of students credit him with their perseverance in their studies. From the many letters of support received from students who were taught by Dr. Maslanka as freshmen, one commented that "he is an amazing asset to IIT, and I am grateful to have had him as my teacher."
Provost Allan Myerson will present the award to Maslanka at the Faculty Recognition and Awards Celebration on April 24.
