    New Course Offering for Fall 2013: Good Manufacturing Practices

    The division of Chemistry will offer the following new course for Fall 2013:

    Course Number: CHEM 519 (3 credits)
    Course Title: Good Manufacturing Practices

    This course is designed to educate students in the area of pharmaceutical regulatory science. Students will learn about Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) that are essential to the pharmaceutical industry under the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, 21 CFR (code of federal regulations). This course covers an introduction to current GMP regulations, and their implication to different areas of pharmaceutical manufacturing, such as laboratory records, equipment and facilities, and personnel. Students will learn to recognize regulatory actions along with the financial risks for non-compliance. This course is available online, and is beneficial for exploring a possible new career path, or to acquire a better understanding of regulatory science.
