    Biomedical engineering brings together concepts and skills from the life sciences, the physical sciences, medicine and engineering, in order to model physiological systems and solve medical problems.

    As a leader in biomedical engineering research and education, IIT prepares students for leadership positions in some of today's most promising and challenging careers in industry, medicine and research.

    IIT offers a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering and a Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Engineering. Both programs enable students to specialize in one of three areas: 1) cell & tissue engineering; 2) medical imaging; 3) neural engineering.

    Biomedical engineering integrates physical, chemical, mathematical, and computational sciences and engineering principles to study biology, medicine, behavior, and health. It advances fundamental concepts; creates knowledge from the molecular to the organ systems level; and develops innovative biologics, materials, processes, implants, devices and informatics approaches for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease, for patient rehabilitation, and for improving health.
