Processing and process optimization
Injection molding, extrusion, compression and transfer molding; DOE for plastics processing technologies optimization. Effect of polymer composition, processing parameters, and part & mold design, on the structure and optimal physical and mechanical properties of the manufacturing items. Foaming engineering plastics by injection molding (low pressure and gas-contra pressure techniques) and extrusion. Relationship between process parameters, foamed structure (solid skin, transition zone and foamed zone) and the properties of the integral foamed articles. Study processes in the mold during injection molding of polymer melts (foamed and non-foamed molding technologies). Processing of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene.
Polymer Composites, Alloys and Blends
Reinforcement of polymeric materials; development of biodegradable polymers and composites based on agricultural wastes; development of plastics (PVC, PP etc.) & wood fiber composites.
Plastic Pulverization and Recycling
Development, improvement and optimization of Solid State Shear Extrusion technologies for pulverization of thermoplastic, thermoset and rubber. Multiple processing of single and commingled thermoplastic and thermoset resins.
