Synthesis, chemical and electrochemical characterization of novel electrode materials for batteries and fuel cells. Understanding the mechanisms and structural by chemical, electrochemical, and spectroscopic techniques. Morphological characterization by BET area, particle-size distribution, porosimetry, X-ray diffraction, SIMS, SEM, EDS techniques.
Rechargeable battery systems such as nickel-metal hydride, Li-ion, and Li-polymer. Diagnostic studies of rechargeable batteries AC impedance, area-specific impedance analysis, CV, pressure-heat measurements during cell cycling and correlation with calorimetric studies. Development of aqueous and nonaqueous electrochemical double layer and galvanic capacitors for high power applications.
