Krishna Pagilla
Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering
At the forefront of research in the area of water and wastewater treatments, Professor Krishna Pagilla has established a solid research program at IIT, attracting more than $1 million from several funding sources. His work is also felt globally, as Pagilla is the faculty advisor to several IIT student organizations that are using engineering to make a difference abroad.
Last year Pagilla took a group of four engineering students to Pignon, Haiti, to scope out service-oriented engineering projects that would provide drinking water, sanitation, schools and other basic infrastructure to small and poor communities in central Haiti. As a result, IIT student groups--Haiti Outreach-IIT, Architecture That Matters, Water Environment Federation-IIT, an IPRO course, and Engineers Without Borders-IIT--have undertaken several projects there.
