    Meg  Wiebe

    Chemical Engineering Undergraduate

While Meg Wiebe was impressed by Illinois Institute of Technology’s great reputation, the many opportunities the school presented for undergraduate involvement, and its proximity to Chicago’s cultural icons and museums, what cemented her decision to choose IIT was its offer of a Camras Scholarship.

As a recipient of an IIT Camras Scholarship, Wiebe receives full tuition for her four years of undergraduate study. While she is involved in Camras meetings and speaker presentations, Wiebe is also a member of the Kappa Phi Delta sorority and is on the executive board of IIT’s chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

“Being able to talk to older students who love their major and to be able to see their dedication and drive has really inspired me, both academically and as an AIChE member,” explains Wiebe. “To be on the executive board when I was a freshman and have the responsibility of putting together a newsletter distributed to chemical engineers and alumni was an honor.”

Wiebe plans to obtain a master’s degree in biological engineering and then work in the food processing industry. She sees her IIT education as being a sure steppingstone to her career plans.

“I have been impressed not only by the quality of basic college-level technical courses at IIT, especially in chemistry, but also by the promise of interesting research projects and one of the best graduate-level programs in the nation,” she says.
