Coming to a big city attracted Houston-native Nishi Gupta to IIT, as well as the unique IPRO program and financial aid. "Absolutely loved IPRO," she says.
Gupta founded the Tsunami Relief IPRO, which developed ways for the IIT community to help those devastated by the 2004 tsunami. The project strengthened the relationship between IIT and Engineers without Borders. One of her favorite teachers is Nasrin Khalli; she's "truly an amazing woman," she says.
Gupta served as an RA as well as selected and managed other RA's in her role as senior resident advisor. She also was president of the South Asian Student Alliance and participated in Union Board, Society for Women Engineers and Habitat for Humanity projects. She received a Stryker Award her senior year for distinguished leadership and contributions to campus life.
She attends med school at St. Matthew’s University with plans to be a physician in internal medicine or gastroenterology.
