Finance master's program
IIT Stuart School of Business

Even though Rohan Patil was born and completed engineering studies in Mumbai (Bombay), India, he heard about IIT from a friend who was working on his masters here. Later, while applying to different universities, he happened upon a website where IIT's Master of Finance course was highly-ranked. "Since I had done my undergraduate in engineering I was looking for a course which was more mathematical and oriented towards programming. Also, the faculty includes Professor Michael Ong, which was also an impetus to join IIT Stuart. The small class size, experienced professors and cooperative staff will definitely make any new student feel comfortable, study harder and get a good job," he says.

Outside of class, he hopes to attend some events organized the Indian Students Association. He also has a love of table tennis. "I played for my college in Mumbai. I just met the captain of our team here. He says that we have a very good team which was ranked 9th on the National Level. So I am practicing hard and will do my best if I ever get a chance to represent IIT."

Being in Chicago has lived up to comments from people back home in India. "It's a very beautiful city and I must say it's nothing like I have ever seen before.Chicagoans are friendly and helpful. There is a wide variety of entertainment options here. Surprisingly, many movie-theatres show Indian movies. That's a boon for someone like me who is an avid fan of Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. After graduation, Patil hopes to get a job in Chicago first. "I want to be a financial analyst to start and later on, I want to do an M.B.A."
