    GENERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM - Please consult the General Education section of the current IIT Bulletin for complete requirements.

    1. Basic Writing Proficiency - Students must show basic writing proficiency by receiving a satisfactory score on the Writing Proficiency Examination or by passing an English Composition course.
    2.     3. Social Sciences - Choose one course from the following: ANTH 201, 202, 210, 219, 220; COMP REL 108; ECON 101, 113, 201, 202, 203, 204; GEOG 101, 102, 115, 212; POLS 200, 201, 202, 203, 205, 206, 211, 215; PSYC 201, 203, 205, 206, 207, 208, 209, 210, 211, 213, 214, 215, 216, 217, 220, 222, 223, 224; SOC SCI 101, 102, 103, 105, 106, 221; or SOC 110, 201, 202, 203, 205, 207, 209, 210, 211, 225, 235, 241, 280, 281.
    4. Choose one course from section B or section C or from the following: AFRI AMER 101; ARCH 104, 105; ART 103, 114, 130; COMP REL 101; ENGL 203; FINE ARTS 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 110; HIST 114, 115, 117, 118, 210, 211, 212, 215, 216, 243, 245, 247, 248; HUM 105, 107, 123, 141, 203, 208, 215, 220, 250; LIT 115, 124, 125, 128, 130, 131, 133, 137, 155; MUSIC 121, 122, 124, 221, 223, 224; PHIL 225; or THE 134.
    5. Science Electives - A minimum of eleven (11) hours is required. Two courses must be in the same field and at least one course must be in a different field. Choose from the following ASTR 201, 202; BIOL 101, 102, 103, 104, 106, 109, 110, 113,114, 115, 119, 121, 122; BOTANY 201, 202; CHEM 105, 121, 122, 201, 203, 212; GEOL 201, 202; MICRO 119, 233, 234; OCEAN 101; PHY SCI 101, 102, 111, 112; PHYS 131, 132, 221, 222, 231, 233; or ZOOL 211..
    6. Mathematics - Choose two courses from MATH 118, 125, 135, 141, 143, 204, 216, or 432-714, 432-715 (IBEW Program)
    7. Computer Science - Information Technology majors choose from CIS 142 or 144. Industrial Technology & Management majors choose from CIS 101, 102, 103, 106, or 107.
    8. Free or Technical Coursework - Information Technology & Management majors must have Thirty-three (33) semester hours of approved courses as free electives or technical electives. Industrial Technology majors must have Thirty-one (31) hours of approved courses as technical electives. Please contact IIT's Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs for additional Information.
