I. GENERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM - Please consult the General Education section of the current IIT Bulletin for complete requirements.
- Basic Writing Proficiency - Students must show basic writing proficiency by receiving a satisfactory score on the Writing Proficiency Examination or by passing an English Composition course.
- Humanities - Choose one course from the following: ENG 240, 251, 252, 253, 254, 255, 256, 260, 261, 270, 271, 272, 275; HIS 130, 131, 132, 170, 171, 172; or PHI 151, 160, 251, 261.
- Social Sciences - Choose one course from the following: ANT 151, 260; ECO 150, 210, 251, 252; GEG 202, 203, 204, 220; PLT 150, 151, 155, 160, 251, 255, 261, 281; PSY 151, 175, 250, 251, 255, 260, 265, 271, 275, 280; or SOC 101, 151, 240, 251, 255, 260.
- Choose one course from section B or section C or from the following: ART 151, 155, 165, 171, 172, 173, 175; ENG 276; HUM 150; MUS 151, 153, 154, 171, 172; PHI 158, 255; or THE 151.
- Science Electives - A minimum of thirteen (13) credit hours is required to fulfill this requirement. At least one natural science or engineering elective must be in a field other than physics. An Applied Mathematics major should complete PHY 291 and additional courses chosen from the following to total 13 credit hours: BIO 110, 130, 137, 157, 158, 260; CHM 115, 164, 165, 166, 170; or PHY 292, 293.
