    Computer Science or Computer Information Systems

    Who plan to major in: Computer Science or Computer Information Systems

    Please contact the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs with any questions regarding the course equivalencies below.

    1. GENERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM - Please consult the General Education section of the current IIT Bulletin for complete requirements.
      1. Basic Writing Proficiency - Students must show basic writing proficiency by receiving a satisfactory score on the Writing Proficiency Examination or by passing an English Composition course.
      2. Humanities - Choose one course from the following: EGL 113, 115, 117, 129, 221, 222, 223, 224, 225, 226, 227, 228, 229, 230, 231, 232, 234, 235, 241, 242; HIS 111, 112, 120, 131, 132, 135, 207, 221, 222; HUM 120, 121, 127; or PHL 106, 107, 170, 180, 205, 215, 230, 231, 240.
      3. Social Sciences -Choose one course from the following: ANT 202, 203, 204, 210; ECO 110, 201, 202, 203; GEG 120, 122, 130; PSC 101, 102, 103, 104, 110, 111, 201, 202, 204, 209, 210; PSY 101, 107, 108, 115, 120, 122, 130, 201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 211, 221, 234, 235, 236, 237, 238, 241; SOC 101, 103, 104, 210, 220, 230, 232, 233, 234; or SSC 101, 105, 201, 205, 206.
      4. Choose one course from section B or section C or from the following: ART 111, 112, 113, 114; EGL 260; HIS 113, 114, 115, 121, 139, 140, 208, 211, 216, 225, 226, 227, 228, 233, 234, 235, 236, 240, 260; HUM 122, 123, 125, 126, 131, 133, 140, 142, 160, 165, 210, 220, 242; or MUS 145, 236, PHL 245.
      5. Science Electives for Computer Science majors - A minimum of fourteen (14) credit hours is required to fulfill this requirement. At least one natural science or engineering elective must be in a field other than physics. A CS major should complete PHY 221 and additional courses chosen from the following to total 14 credit hours: BIO 104, 105, 106, 108, 121, 122, 131, 132; CHEM 101, 105, 121, 122, 207; PHY 115, 222.
