I. GENERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM - Please consult the General Education section of the current IIT Bulletin for complete requirements.
- Basic Writing Proficiency - Students must show basic writing proficiency by receiving a satisfactory score on the Writing Proficiency Examination or by passing an English Composition course.
- Humanities - Choose one course from the following: ENG 211, 212, 215, 221, 231, 232, 240, 241, 242, 261, 262, 271; HIST 111, 112, 151, 152, 201, 202; HUMAN 101, 201; or PHILO 201, 202, 204, 205.
- Social Sciences - Choose one course from the following: ANTHR 215, 222; ECON 201, 202, 289; GEOG 101, 102; POLSC 101, 140, 152, 230, 240; PSYCH 101, 102, 106, 202, 203, 204, 212, 215, 217; SOCSC 101; or SOCIO 101, 111, 210, 212, 215, 220.
- Choose one course from section B or section C or from the following: ART 121, 122, 124, 126, 129, 131; ENG 220; HIST 115, 116, 140, 230; HUMAN 102, 202; MUSIC 130, 131, 132, 172; or THTRE 101, 104.
- Science Electives for Computer Science majors - A minimum of fourteen (14) credit hours is required to fulfill this requirement. At least one natural science or engineering elective must be in a field other than physics. A CS major should complete PHYSI 210 and PHY 220 and two additional courses chosen from the following to total 14 credit hours: ASTRO 101, 200; BIOL 100, 103, 105, 106, 108, 111, 112, 150, 201, 211, 220, 221, 222; CHEM 104, 105, 110, 130, 205; or PHYS 230.
