Math & Science Education
The Department of Math and Science Education in the College of Science and Letters offers master and doctorate degrees as well as certification programs for secondary math and science teachers. Undergraduates can take MSED courses to gain a minor, certification, or a jump start on graduate work.
MSED offers programs leading to Illinois State Certification in Secondary Mathematics (grades 6-12) and Secondary Science: Biology, Chemistry, Physics (grades 6-12). This 24 credit hour program may be accomplished as electives during the completion of any academic major at IIT.
The program is supported by grants from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and partners with organizations such as the Chicago Public Schools.
