Deferment & Reinstatement

Deferment

Each year we have a handful of students who determine they want to defer their admission. We understand that plans change, and IIT will be here to help with the transition to college when you're ready.

You may defer for up to 2 semesters and any scholarship previously awarded will be reassessed. You may not attend any other college or university. It is your responsibility to submit your final high school transcripts with graduation date or your final college transcripts. F-1 students must provide a new financial affidavit of support before we issue a new I-20. If any of these requirements are not met, admission will not be honored.

If you are interested in deferring until a future term, you must complete a 2 step process. By August 21, you must 1) Submit a tuition deposit and 2) Complete the deferment application (fall admit PDF). Once we have these 2 requirements, we will confirm your new entry term.

Students Seeking Reinstatement

Undergraduate students who wish to return to IIT, should apply through the Office of Educational Services. Click here for the Reinstatement application.
