For All Students:

All full-time students are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships when their application for admission is reviewed.

Freshman domestic students are eligible for the Heald and University Scholarships (up to $10,000 each annually). All transfer students are reviewed for Transfer Tuition Scholarships (up to $12,000). In addition, students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) are eligible for the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship ($5,000 per year) upon proof of PTK membership. International applicants are eligible for up to $12,000 per year in scholarships.

All students are expected to be enrolled full-time and to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress in order to continue receiving scholarship and financial aid.

Camras Scholars Program

Our highest undergraduate academic honor, the Camras Scholars Program challenges the top 1% of our applicant pool to apply and interview with a faculty member for a place as a Camras Scholar. The program is named for Marvin Camras (EE '40, MS '42), a pioneer in magnetic recording technology and IIT alumnus, professor, and community leader.

With enhanced access to research and service, in addition to leadership development and a full tuition scholarship benefit, the Camras Scholars Program brings our best students together with our best opportunities.

Chicago Police and Fire Departments Scholarship

In honor of the Chicago Police and Fire Departments' dedicated leadership and service to the city of Chicago, Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) is offering $15,000 annual scholarships to the children and grandchildren of members of the Chicago Police Department and Chicago Fire Department, beginning August 2009.

"This new scholarship program will provide the families of our city's dedicated police and fire professionals increased opportunities to pursue a world-class education at IIT," said IIT Vice Provost of Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid Gerald P. Doyle. "We consider it a privilege to be able to give something back to those who risk their lives each day to protect the citizens of Chicago."

To be considered for a $15,000 scholarship, candidates must qualify for undergraduate admission to Illinois Institute of Technology as either a first-year or transfer student and be:

  • Children/grandchildren of a currently active, sworn member of either department, or former officer, firefighter or paramedic from either department in good standing
  • *Children/grandchildren of a fallen officer, firefighter, or paramedic

Recipients of the scholarship must complete a certification form and have it authorized by the designated official from the Chicago Police or Fire Department.

An eligible student is guaranteed a four-year (or five-year, for the College of Architecture) scholarship in the annual amount of $15,000 provided he or she is enrolled full-time and makes satisfactory academic progress.

*Where parents/grandparents have lost their lives in service to the City of Chicago, IIT will provide additional financial assistance to children/grandchildren beyond the $15,000 scholarship including additional financial support up to full tuition after federal and state grants and loans have been applied where the family's adjusted gross income is less than $40,000.

Chinese American Service League (CASL) Scholarship Program

The CASL Scholarships range in value up to $2,500 per academic year and are awarded to ten (10) incoming first-year and ten (10) transfer students at Illinois Institute of Technology. Students with a strong commitment to community service and academic achievement are encouraged to apply. Preference is given to Chinese American students.

Requirements

  1. You must be admitted to IIT as a full-time undergraduate degree-seeking student.
  2. Write a one-page essay stating why you would like to be considered for the CASL Scholarship. Included in this essay should be a description of your commitment to community service through past or present projects, as well as highlights of your academic achievements and career goals.
  3. Have the above mentioned materials into IIT's Office of Undergraduate Admission by the deadline listed below.
  4. Students must be U.S. Citizens or permanent residents.

Deadlines

The priority deadline for the CASL award is February 3, 2010.

Collens Scholars Program

As a continuation of our growing relationship with Chicago Public Schools, IIT has formally launched the Collens Scholarship, a new initiative that offers eligible CPS graduates the opportunity to attend IIT as a full-time student with full financial support for all tuition, books and fees. In Fall 2007, 21 students from 10 CPS high schools entered IIT on the Collens Scholarship, to study 11 different majors.

This need-based scholarship honors former IIT President Lewis Collens, who served the university from 1990 to 2007, and marks his legacy of commitment to Chicago Public Schools and the city at large.

Crown Scholarship

Providing full tuition for five years to one first-year full-time architecture student each year, the Crown Scholarship looks for a sense of creativity and ingenuity as well as a desire to study architecture in a historic place like Chicago, IIT, and S.R. Crown Hall. Students are asked to provide academic credentials as well as a sample of their work in architecture before being invited to Interview Weekend to spend the weekend on campus and interview with a panel of architecture professionals from around the city.

FIRST Scholarship

In partnership, Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) and FIRST have established a merit-based scholarship program for students who have been actively involved on a competing FIRST team. To be eligible, students must apply and be admitted as a first-year, full-time student in an undergraduate program of study at IIT.

Scholarship Information

IIT will award up to three FIRST Scholarships each year. These scholarships, valued at $6,000 per year for four years (five years for architecture), are applicable towards tuition expenses at IIT, and may be combined with other merit-based scholarships awarded by the university. However, the total amount may not exceed tuition expenses.

How to Apply

  • Complete an IIT application for admission.
  • Submit a one page essay describing involvement in FIRST.
  • Have a FIRST adult team leader submit a letter of nomination (in addition to the letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor as part of your IIT application).

You must submit your completed IIT application as well as the supplementary materials for the FIRST Scholarship to the Office of Undergraduate Admission by February 3, 2010. Awards will be recognized at the annual FIRST Championships. You can download the IIT/FIRST Scholarship application here.

IIT-Fermilab Scholarship Program

Illinois Institute of Technology is proud to announce the IIT-Fermilab Scholarship program to support the children/dependents of Fermilab.

Beginning Fall 2008, IIT will award up to five Fermilab Scholarships each year to children/dependents of employees that are admitted for full-time admission to IIT. These scholarships, valued at up to $10,000 per year for four years (five years for architecture), are applicable towards tuition expenses at IIT, and may be combined with other merit-based scholarships awarded by the university. However, the total amount may not exceed tuition expenses.

How to Apply

You must submit your completed IIT application as well as supplementary materials for the IIT/Fermilab Scholarship to the Office of Undergraduate Admission by February 3, 2010. Notification of decisions begins March 3, 2010.

IIT/International Baccalaureate Scholarship

Illinois Institute of Technology is proud to announce the IIT/International Baccalaureate Scholarship (IB) to support students who have completed the rigorous IB program throughout high school. To be eligible, students must apply and be admitted as a first-year, full time student in an undergraduate program of study at IIT.

Scholarship Information

IIT will award IIT/IB Scholarships of $1,000-$2,500 per year for four years (five years for architecture). These scholarships are applicable towards tuition expenses at IIT and may be combined with other merit-based scholarships awarded by the university. However, the total amount may not exceed tuition expenses.

How to Apply

  • Complete an IIT application for admission
  • Submit the IIT/IB Scholarship application
  • Submit a one page essay describing your experience in the IB program, specifically your Theory of Knowledge course and how it has prepared you to be a positive contributor to the IIT community
  • Have an IB teacher submit a letter of nomination (in addition to the letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor as port of your IIT application)

IIT/NCSSSMST Scholarship Program

In recognition of the shared sense of purpose and mission with regard to education and outreach, Illinois Institute of Technology is pleased to announce a new scholarship for students enrolled at NCSSSMST programs to encourage young people to pursue undergraduate study in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The IIT/NCSSSMST Scholarship program also recognizes the significant contributions that the faculty and staff at NCSSSMST schools have made toward ensuring a very high level of math and science literacy among our young people and for their in inspiring the next generation of leaders in these fields of study.

IIT recognizes that NCSSSMST schools enroll a range of students who may need financial assistance in paying for college.

Nominations for the IIT/NCSSSMST scholarship will be accepted from current faculty or staff of NCSSSMST Schools coordinated through the College Guidance Department; each school may recommend students to IIT who will be designated as IIT/NCSSSMST Scholars upon enrollment at IIT.

Scholarship Information

IIT will reserve at least one IIT/NCSSSMST Scholarship per school of $15,000 per year for four years (five years for architecture) to full-time undergraduate students. These scholarships are applicable towards tuition expenses at IIT and may be combined with other need-based scholarships awarded by the university. However, the total amount may not exceed tuition expenses. These scholarships are renewable as long as a student continues to maintain a satisfactory academic record and progress toward their degree.

How To Apply

Students who submit an application under the Early Decision (November 4th) or Early Action I (December 9th) will receive priority consideration for IIT's Undergraduate Research Scholars Program which provides a $5,000 stipend for undergraduate research during the summer after a student's first year at the university.

These scholarships are applicable towards tuition expenses at IIT and may be combined with other merit-based scholarships awarded by the university.   • Submit the IIT/PLTW Scholarship application
  • Submit a one page essay describing how PLTW has prepared you for one of the IPRO Projects listed here
  • Have an PLTW teacher submit a letter of nomination (in addition to the letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor as port of your IIT application)

IIT/Teach For America Scholarship

In recognition of the shared sense of purpose and mission with regard to education and outreach, Illinois Institute of Technology and Teach For America (TFA) are pleased to announce a new scholarship program to encourage young people to pursue undergraduate study in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The Scholarship program also recognizes the significant opportunities that TFA's new math and science initiative will create for students by inspiring the next generation of leaders in the these fields of study.

IIT recognizes that TFA teachers have many students who come from low income backgrounds and may need help paying for college. In addition, IIT values that TFA alumni continue to have strong ongoing connections to schools or young people through their active involvement in a range of community and professional activities.

Nominations for the scholarship will be accepted from current Teach for America teachers and alumni.

IIT/UWC Scholarship Program

In recognition of the United World Colleges (UWC) deep commitment and responsibility to fostering peace and an international understanding, Illinois Institute of Technology is pleased to announce a new scholarship program to provide financial assistance to UWC Students.

Types of Financial Aid

IIT/UWC Scholarship. UWC students will be eligible for merit-based scholarships of $15,000 per year for four years (five years for architecture) as full-time undergraduate students. These scholarships are applicable towards tuition expenses at IIT and may be combined with other need-based scholarships awarded by the university. However, the total amount may not exceed tuition expenses. These scholarships are renewable as long as a student continues to maintain a satisfactory academic record and progress towards their degree.

International Baccalaureate Scholarship. IIT will award IIT/IB Scholarships of $1,000-$2,500 per year for four years (five years for architecture) to support students who have completed the rigorous IB program throughout high school. UWC students who have completed the IB program are encouraged to submit the IIT/IB Scholarship application.

Need-Based Assistance. A limited number of UWC Students with high financial need may be eligible for additional need-based assistance from IIT.

      Room and Board. Need-based scholarships will be awarded to assist with on-campus room and board fees at IIT.
 
Work-Study. Work-study aid up to $1,500 per year will be awarded to a limited number of students who demonstrate high financial need. International students must have proper visa status to be eligible for work-study at IIT and work hours will be limited on-campus as outlined by the visa regulations.

National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering

The NACME Engineering Scholarship ranges in value from $2,000 - $5,000 per year for four years; these awards are only offered at the time of admission.

NACME provides leadership and support for the national effort to increase the representation of successful African American, American Indian and Latino women and men in engineering and technology, math-, and science-based careers.

Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC)

Preparing future officers and leaders in our nation's armed services, the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) provides leadership experience, acacdemic support, physical training, and financial assistance to new and returning students.

Interested students apply for scholarships through the respective ROTC branches. Applicants are eligible to receive up to full funding from the government; what applicants are not awarded, IIT will make up the remaining balance for room and board.

All three branches of the military are represented at IIT. Navy and Air Force ROTC units are stationed on campus, with an Army unit headquartered at UIC. All three serve the entire Chicagoland area.

Thomas A. Roszak Scholarship

The highly selective $5,000 Thomas A. Roszak Scholarship is awarded annually to one entering undergraduate architecture student who demonstrates exceptional promise and financial need. The scholarship is applied directly to tuition costs for the first year of study in the five-year B. Arch. program.

The SAE Engineering Scholarship ranges in value up to $8,000 per year for four years and is awarded to up to fifteen students.
