Biochemistry (B.S.)/Psychological Science (B.S.)
Are you fascinated by the science behind human behavior and interested in pursuing a career in research or the health professions? If so, this could be the program for you.
Earn two degrees simultaneously in this challenging program geared toward scientists and pre-health students who are interested in issues at the interface of psychological science and biochemistry.
This is an integrated dual-degree program leading to the Bachelor of Science in Psychological Science and the Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, while maintaining the integrity and content of each individual degree program. Students examine how psychology—the scientific study of human behavior and the mind—impacts every aspect of our culture and society. On the biochemistry side, you will develop a deep understanding of cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, microbiology, physiology, and physical science that underly how we operate as biochemical machines.
Program Overview
This challenging dual degree is geared toward scientists and pre-health students. You'll learn how psychology impacts every aspect of our culture and society, and you'll also study subjects shaping how we operate: cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, microbiology, physiology, and physical science.
Career Opportunities
With two degrees, you will differentiate yourself when applying to graduate or medical schools. Career opportunities exist in public health, genetic counseling, or related areas where biology and psychology intersect, such as neuroscience, cognitive science, and psychopharmacology, and address complex conditions such as addiction and dementia.
Students of this program must be admitted to Illinois Tech. Students who are interested in transferring to this program should consult their academic adviser.
