Operations research analysts are in demand. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a 27 percent increase in the number of OR analysts from 2016–2026, or 31,300 new jobs. In Illinois, the growth is expected to be even higher, at 28.1 percent. Illinois employs the fourth-largest number of OR analysts of all states, and the Chicago area employs the fifth-largest number of all U.S. cities. OR analysts in the Chicago area earn an annual mean wage of more than $95,000. The Illinois Tech Master of Science in Computational Decision Science and Operations Research is well positioned to take advantage of this growth in demand for operations research analysts, nationally and in the Chicago area.
