There is so much that can only be learned outside the classroom through experience and mentorship. That’s why Illinois Tech’s Master of Data Science program includes a distinct, six credit-hour practicum in your plan of study. This experiential component complements your coursework in the data science curriculum.
Located in Chicago, Illinois Tech has the great advantage of developing relationships with both large and small partners from business, industry, and the not-for-profit world. In small teams with fellow students, mentored by faculty, you are given the opportunity to work on a real-world, data driven problem. The practicum enables you to apply your accrued knowledge while building up your professional skills. Grades are based on the evaluation of performance, professionalism, team participation, the quality of interim and final project reports, and clarity of presentation. Further, weekly meetings with a faculty instructor and a partner representative ensure project goals are being met and delivered on time.
