Your Pre-Health/Pre-Med Journey at Illinois Tech
Don’t be intimidated—we're here to help you navigate the pre-health/pre-med journey.
Here is how the process works, starting when you apply to Illinois Tech:
- Indicate your interest in pre-health/pre-med when you apply to Illinois Tech. Although many pre-health/pre-med students major in science or engineering, you can choose any academic major. Our Minor in Pre-Medical Studies can be added to any degree program to guide your prerequisite coursework selection.
- Connect with our Pre-Medical Advisory Committee. Once you’ve expressed your interest, our Pre-Medical Advisory Committee will reach out to you to begin advising you on topics such as course selection, out-of-classroom opportunities, and MCAT prep. The committee is composed of dedicated faculty and advisers—not just academic advisers. You’ll also begin to build connections with other students in the pathway.
- Apply to medical school. After years of study, 1:1 guidance, and preparation, you will be ready to apply to medical school, graduate school, or enter the workforce in a field that you’re passionate about.
