The following programs are designed to develop and showcase undergraduate and graduate student writing across campus.
Distinguished Communicator Medal Program
Go above and beyond in your undergraduate education! Complement your technical expertise by growing your communication skills through the Distinguished Communicator program, and receive a medal to wear at graduation and an impressive resume line.
Annual Writing Contest
Every year, the Department of Humanities hosts a writing contest for undergraduate students. All full-time Illinois Tech undergraduate students (students who are currently taking at least 12 credit hours) are invited to submit original pieces of fiction, poetry, plays, nonfiction, and philosophical analysis. Winners receive a cash prize.
Summer Research Writing Workshop
The Summer Research Writing Workshop helps graduate students cultivate their writing skills and achieve their research goals. Geared toward students who are ready to start writing about their research, every participant who completes this workshop will have a finished dissertation chapter or publishable journal/conference article prepared for submission.

Illinois Tech has a number of communication-related services and offices across campus.
English Language Services
English Language Services (ELS) provides innovative and student-centered English language instruction for international students and scholars.
Writing Center
The Writing Center offers one-on-one conferences for undergraduate and graduate students. Students can seek assistance with all written and oral assignments as well as with personal statements and application essays.
University Libraries
The university libraries offer a host of resources, many of which touch on communication in the research process. The library guides contain a host of resources on citation. Subject librarians are also available for individual conferences.
