Employers
Handshake is our online network that enables employers to perform one-stop engagement tasks and access students from multiple majors through a single website. Employers will have the ability to create and manage job postings; to screen our diverse population of candidates for vacancies; and to register for Employer Spotlights, on-campus interviews, and our bi-annual career fairs. Use this database to connect with undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni.
*You are able to post an unlimited number of internships, co-ops, and full-time positions.
Post your available positions in Handshake, our recruitment platform.
Students
If you haven't activated your Handshake account, please do so! Handshake is Career Services' primary platform for job search, résumé, and cover letter reviews, and event and appointment sign-up. All current students with @hawk.iit.edu email addresses have accounts in Handshake.
Alumni
Please follow the steps below to access the system if you already had an account created as a student:
1) Visit iit.joinhandshake.com
2) Follow the steps in this Handshake article to finish your set up
3) Illinois Tech Handshake Administrators will review your request to join and will approve requests in a timely manner
Please note: the university has moved from Google to Microsoft. In line with best practices for cybersecurity, we have transitioned our alumni email addresses to a forwarding service. This move maintains our commitment to providing alumni with an Illinois Tech email address.
If you wish to continue to use your Illinois Tech email address, you may choose to keep your Illinois Tech email address by opting into our forwarding service and providing a personal forwarding address on the intake form. This service allows you to direct your Illinois Tech emails to a personal email address.
If you want additional information on alumni access to Illinois Tech technology resources, please visit: https://www.iit.edu/
Protect Yourself from Fraudulent Job Postings
Career Services diligently screens against fraudulent employer postings in our Handshake database. However, students should use reasonable caution in all avenues of their job search and employer communications. This document outlines common fraudulent warning signs, for example, an employer who asks you to send a check to deposit before a job has started. If you notice suspicious employer language or behavior, please report it to Career Services staff immediately.
