Badgr is a digital badging tool integrated into Canvas that allows instructors to create and issue badges to students based on their achievements within a course. These badges can be awarded for completing specific tasks, mastering skills, or reaching milestones. Badges serve as a form of recognition and motivation for students, and they can be collected and shared as part of a student’s digital portfolio.

Follow these simple steps to set up badge requirements in your Canvas course and link them to Badgr (Credentials):

1. Create a Module or Activity

  • Go to your course and click on "Modules" in the course navigation menu.
  • Click "+ Module" to create a new module or use an existing one.
  • Add the activities (assignments, quizzes, discussions, etc.) that you want to be part of the module.

2. Set Module Requirements

  • Click the three dots next to the module name and select "Edit."
  • Scroll to "Module Requirements" and click "+ Add Requirement."
  • Choose the conditions for completing the module (e.g., submit an assignment, pass a quiz).
  • Click "Update Module" to save the requirements.

3. Link the Module to a Badge

  • Click on "Credentials" in the course navigation menu.
  • Select or create a badge in Badgr.
  • Under the "Award Badge" section, select the module you set up in Step 2.
  • The badge will now automatically be awarded to students who meet the module requirements.

NOTE: Please contact support@iit.edu first if you wish to use Badgr in your course.  We will activate the tool in your course.
