Description

Faculty members in the area of discrete applied mathematics will discuss their recent and ongoing research and related topics in a casual, accessible setting. Discrete mathematics is the branch of mathematics containing graph theory (the study of relations), combinatorics (the study of countable structures), number theory (the study of the integers), theoretical computer science, and much, much more. Aspects of discrete mathematics show up in operations research, probability, algebra, and geometry, to name a few. Background knowledge of the subject will not be assumed. This talk is organized through the IIT chapter of the SIAM club.
