Description

Safety is the most important aspect dictating work in a research or teaching laboratory. In this talk, Juarez will discuss the importance of biological safety (or biosafety), and how the biosafety regulations and guidelines of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) can minimize the likelihood of acquiring a disease while working with biological agents. Some of the key biosafety concepts that will be covered include basic principles and practices in the lab, biosafety levels and practices, and the role of instructors, PIs, the institution's biosafety committee and the department of biological sciences to implement CDC’s regulations.
