Abstract:

This seminar will provide a summary of research projects conducted at IIT in the last two decades in areas as diverse as repetitive scheduling, construction progress control, collusive practices and unbalanced bids, quality management, international joint ventures, supply chain management, life-cycle costing, transaction costs, marketing of construction services, innovation, information technologies, contracting, subcontracting issues, dispute resolution, claims management, value engineering, constructability, safety, business failures, building maintenance, sustainable construction, apps for handheld devices, lessons learned systems, public-private partnerships, women and minorities in construction, and others.

Professor David Arditi is currently Professor of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology. He has been with the faculty of IIT since 1981. He is the founder and Director of the Construction Engineering and Management Program. Dr. Arditi holds a PhD degree from Loughborough University, UK. He supervised the research work of a large number of PhD and MS students from diverse countries. Many of his former PhD students serve as professors in the US and their respective countries, while many of his former MS students occupy respectable positions in industry all over the world. Dr. Arditi and his research associates have published close to 300 research papers in refereed national and international journals and in peer reviewed conference proceedings. He is currently serving on the editorial board of nine journals. Dr. Arditi is an active member of several ASCE, AACE, and PMI. He has been elected fellow of CMAA.
