The Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering department will be hosting a seminar featuring Professor of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Associate Dean of the Graduate College at IIT, Dr. Jamshid Mohammadi. The topic of the seminar will be Urban Systems Engineering – Research on Infrastructure Network Management.

Urban systems engineering covers many areas of research involving multiple disciplines within engineering, science, mathematics, social science and economics. All activities within the broad topic of urban systems engineering are intended to provide various services to urban areas. The objective is to have systems that are efficient, reliable and sustainable. The research on infrastructure focuses on all types of urban civil engineering networks including water distribution and wastewater lines, transportation systems, bridges and tunnels and all facilities related to the air transport systems.

This seminar focuses on research activities at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) that primarily cover areas related to network management in terms of performance evaluation, health monitoring and condition assessment based on visual inspections, analytical investigations or a combination of both methods. The seminar provides a broad spectrum of current and past research activities within the structural engineering group in the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering of IIT.

This seminar is offered as part of the CAEE Graduate Seminar Series - CAE 593/ENVE 590.
