Locations

Stuart Building, Room 113 10 West 31st Street Chicago, IL 60616

Prof. Paul Anderson, Prof. Jamshid Mohammadi , and Prof. Brent Stephens of the Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering department will be hosting a seminar featuring Keith Eberhardt, Vice President and Ian Wienholt, Director of Business Development, both, at Structural Preservation Systems, LLC. The topic of the seminar will be Embedded Metal Corrosion: Cause and Effect.

Abstract

The specifics of reinforcing steel corrosion is discussed with the goal of increasing awareness and understanding of how to evaluate the effects and how to determine the most appropriate cathodic protection method(s).

Learning Objectives:

  • Environmental conditions required for corrosion to initiate and propagate
  • Selection of appropriate counter-measures for remediation
  • Operating principles of cathodic protection and to learn about the available long-term solutions for corrosion control

Speaker Bios

Keith Eberhardt (BS CE '91) focused research on concrete bond strength and surface preparation. He has been involved in the concrete repair and protection industry for more than 30 years and is skilled in the assessment and implementation of countermeasures for corrosion of reinforced concrete structures.

Ian Wienholt has over 15 years experience in the concrete repair industry. Ian has presented AIA approved seminars on strengthening, corrosion and structural repair topics to more than 100 general contractors and leading architectural and engineering firms in the Northeast US and beyond.
