Armour College of Engineering students have been invited to attend Down the Drain: Addressing Chicago's Stormwater Runoff Challenges, a half day seminar for design professionals, landscape architects, sustainability experts, building owners, and students to raise awareness about the growing importance of controlling storm-water runoff in the Chicago area.

Hear from leading experts on the severity of Chicago's stormwater challenges. Learn through case studies how vegetated roofs and other green infrastructure can be designed and customized for sustainability managing stormwater.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Why Chicagoans should be concerned about stormwater runoff and water conservation.
  • Understanding the basis of the IL Urban Flooding and Awareness Act, Including the June 2015 Report.
  • Identifying key performance criteria and learning how to design vegetated roof systems accordingly
  • Avoid common pit falls in green roof design.

Lunch will be provided for one hundred design professionals, plus up to fifty student guests. A prompt RSVP is recommended.
