The Effect of the Therapy on Tumor Regression: A Lung Carcinoma Study
Host
Department of Applied Mathematics
Description
This talk address the complexities related to vascular tumor behavior during treatment, represented by a combined modality involving chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Parameters representing apoptosis and vascularization are considered and their impact on tumor regression is analyzed. In order to better understand the effects of treatment on a vascular tumor an apoptotic time delay is considered and its impact on tumor regression is analyzed using numerical and asymptotic techniques. By introducing the linear-quadratic model, numerical results reveal the existence of two extreme sets of parameter data: the aggressive and the least aggressive levels. Numerical simulations using the aggressive parameter category suggest good agreement with data representing lung carcinoma.
