Armour College of Engineering Associate Professor of Environmental Engineering, Paul Anderson , will be giving a Water Engineering Themes Lecture on "Red Tide".

Cyanobacteria: Enemy of the people or should they get credit for everything good that’s happened? Recent headlines about harmful algal blooms warn us the Florida’s red tide outbreak is the worst in more than a decade, algal neurotoxins have contaminated shellfish in the Pacific Northwest, and algal blooms are turning Wisconsin’s sparkling blue lakes into green pea soup. Is it fake news or is it caused by climate change? Cyanobacteria made human life possible, and maybe they don’t appreciate what we’ve done to their world and their looking for revenge. We will review some of the evidence in this seminar.
