Family Fun Day: The Science of Sports
Illinois Institute of Technology is hosting the first of three free Family Fun Day events on Saturday August from 10am-2pm at Siegel Field. The hands on interactive event will explore the science of sports. Coach Michael Huff from the Chicago White Sox will cover throwing (grip and body position) and hitting (grip, stance, stride, contact, extension, and follow through). The Museum of Science and Industry will engage kids with biomimicry in sports. Kids will learn the six phases involved in making the hardest shot in ice hockey and will get the chance to take a shot on goal with an assist from staff with the Chicago Wolves. The IIT men and women's basketball teams will run a basketball clinic and relay stations. KICS will lead a soccer camp and the Chicago Park District will teach how to jump double dutch rope. Younger visitors will enjoy an inflatable obstacle course!
Parents must accompany their children and sign a participation waiver form for all participants under the age of 18. Please print and complete the form ahead of time to expedite the check-in process.
