Join the Department of Social Sciences for this Great Problems, Great Minds seminar series event featuring guest speaker Haifeng Qian, associate professor and associate director of the School of Planning and Public Affairs at the University of Iowa. His major research interests include entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic development. He has published extensively in top journals, such as Regional Studies, Journal of Technology Transfer, and Urban Studies.

The event will take place on October 27 beginning at 12:40 p.m.

This presentation discusses economic development policy facing the burgeoning entrepreneurship ecosystem research to understand how entrepreneurship ecosystems are different from regional innovation systems and clusters given that both frameworks have been vastly popular among economic development policymakers. This talk will introduce the key findings in the entrepreneurship ecosystem research that can guide economic development policymaking and provide implications of how economic development policy should be adjusted under the entrepreneurship ecosystem approach. The ongoing debate on the geographical boundaries of entrepreneurship ecosystems for economic development policy will also be addressed.
