You are invited to join us for presentations, demonstrations and poster sessions about the Real-Time Communications (RTC) projects created by students in Illinois Tech's School of Applied Technology. The event is free and open to the public but requires advance registration at registration page.

Schedule of Events:
5:30 PM to 6:30 PM - There will be a poster session where students will discuss their projects, describe key aspects of their work, and answer questions. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.

6:30 PM to 8:30 PM - Students will formally present and demonstrate their projects.

Your presence supports the students, who benefit from your questions and comments. We greatly appreciate your support and are sure you will come away with new information, ideas and contacts.

Presentations include:

  • Indoor Location for NG911 – A service that supplies indoor locations to first responders will be demonstrated and described. The student team developed an Android app and a search function that provides the indoor location of an emergency caller. Demo calls will terminate on the Public Service Answering Points (PSAPS) in the RTC Lab’s NG9-1-1 test beds. This project was inspired by the recent FCC rulemaking that requires increased location accuracy for mobile 9-1-1 calls originating indoors.
  • The Gateway Project – A lab architecture that allows us to peer the lab’s various test beds at the application layer will be demonstrated. Cloud services are at the heart of this new development.

  • SIP Registration Rates - An automated script developed in previous semesters will be applied to various SIP proxies to learn the maximum session establishment rate and the maximum registration rate that each can achieve with no errors. New results will be reported and a comparison with past results will be made.
  • Voice over Illinois Tech at Main Campus – An IP-based voice and video service with over 70 student users, located on the Illinois Tech Main campus and administered by the student team will be demonstrated and described.
