Live Skype Lecture: Roles and Responsibilities for Promoting Research Integrity

The lecture is a part of Illinois Institute of Technology’s Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) program, and will feature a presentation by Michael Lauer, the deputy director for extramural research at National Institutes of Health (NIH). Lauer received education and training at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute, Albany Medical College, Harvard Medical School, Harvard School of Public Health, and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute's Framingham Heart Study.

The RCR program offers ethical research training opportunities for all sponsored researchers. Federal regulations and university policy require researchers supported by external funding agencies to complete the RCR training program. In order to ensure that RCR requirements have been fulfilled, all Illinois Tech-sponsored researchers, regardless of funding source, must follow the university policy.

Illinois Tech’s RCR program comprises three distinct parts: completing one RCR training course through the CITI Program, attending at least one in-person RCR lecture/workshop ,and participating in face-to-face RCR instruction led by the faculty investigator for the project.

Ongoing lectures and workshops covering topics in ethical research with a focus on RCR themes will be offered. All researchers participating in externally funded projects must attend at least one lecture or workshop. Check the Office of Research Compliance website for upcoming lectures and workshops.
