The Black Student Union will be hosting the First Inaugural Nate Thomas Award Ceremony on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 6–8:30 p.m. at the McCormick Tribune Campus Center in the MTCC Ballroom.

The Nate Thomas Award Ceremony was inaugurated by the Black Student Union to honor graduates of color, faculty, and staff for their commitment, advocacy, and persistence in bringing positive transformative change to the Illinois Institute of Technology campus for the benefit of improving campus life for current students, and those who come after them. Additionally, the Black Student Union is making an attempt to better close the communication gap between Black students on campus and the African American Alumni Association. The Nate Thomas Dinner and Award Ceremony's purpose is to commemorate faculty and students who contributed to and epitomized the practice of giving back to the community while using the skills they have been given.

Attendees and nominees should start arriving by 5:50 p.m. The dress code is semi-formal.
