Locations

Rettaliata Building, Room 104

This semester's Sawyier Lecture will feature Stephanie Bird, editor-in-chief of the journal Science and Engineering Ethics, whose talk is titled "Asking for Evidence: Neuroscience and Society."

The brain and behavior are foundational to society, and the findings of neuroscience research are increasingly seen as a key factor to understanding society and addressing its problems. Yet basic characteristics of the nervous system challenge the easy application of research findings to societal concerns. We will consider what citizens need to know about neuroscience and the professional and social responsibilities of neuroscientists.

Light refreshments will be available at 2 p.m. in the lobby outside of the auditorium.
