Leading Through Divisive Times
Even when we have a 24-hour news cycle and seem to be constantly receiving information, the news we get is often painted over through a particular lens and altered to sensationalize them.
Media and cultural biases have a strong impact on us, particularly our perception and behavior. Various types of unconscious biases will be explored in the seminar, to provide an understanding of how these biases affect us.
Participants will analyze the general political structure to determine whether consensus is truly reached when passing legislature and what it would really mean for a two-party system to reach consensus.
The seminar will further lead to experiential learning simulations on political division and techniques in fostering cooperation to overcome divides in a team environment. Through conflict recognition, prevention, and management, attendants will build the skills necessary to effectively mediate through sensitive situations in a contemporary context.
