Title: A Model Reduction Framework for Electron Transport in Extended Quantum Systems
Abstract: Extended quantum systems consist of a system of interest and an interacting bath, leading to a vast number of degrees of freedom. Directly simulating electron transport in these systems is computationally prohibitive. Additionally, long-range Coulomb interactions introduce a highly nonlinear Hamiltonian in the TDDFT framework. Additionally, long-range interactions from the Coulomb potential introduce a highly nonlinear Hamiltonian in the TDDFT framework. We address these challenges by developing a model reduction approach based on Petrov–Galerkin projection. We apply a domain decomposition strategy and use interpolation to recover the global electron density profile for efficient Coulomb potential computation. We also analyze the accuracy of this reduction framework using Krylov subspace approximation theory.
