TEDxIIT 2016 will take place on Sunday, April 10th, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the IIT Tower Auditorium. This year's theme is UnexpecTED. Speakers will share how unexpected ideas can lead to innovations that improve the lives of people all over the world. TEDxIIT is a student organization that hosts an annual TED-like event for Illinois Tech's global community.

Javid Mahmoudzadeh Akherat, a PhD Candidate in Armour College of Engineering's Mechanical, Materials, and Aerospace Engineering Department, has been invited to present his talk, Development of Prognosticative Framework to Forecast Venous and Arterial Occlusions. Akherat and a team of researchers developed a predictive framework to improve the patency of vascular accesses for dialysis patients. The team's knowledge of fluid dynamics and medicine provided insight into discovering the solution. Their innovative interdisciplinary approach resulted in a revolutionary customized medical treatment plan.
