Veterans Day 2021—The Forgotten 500: A Personal Story
Illinois Tech Provost Peter Kilpatrick will host Gregory Freeman for a virtual presentation on Thursday, November 11, to discuss his book, The Forgotten 500.
The book tells the story of Operation Halyard, the World War II rescue of downed American airmen. It is the largest rescue of downed American airmen. Kilpatrick’s father, a bomber pilot during World War II, was shot down over Yugoslavia and was involved in Operation Halyard.
The event, which is pre-recorded, will include introduction remarks from Kilpatrick, as well as a 30-minute discussion by Freeman and short question-and-answer session between Kilpatrick and Freeman.
