Armour College of Engineering students are invited to attend Young Professionals in Power, a special program of the ELECTRIC POWER Conference and Exhibition designed for those just beginning their careers in the power industry.

Students will participate in networking functions and special sessions focusing on topics most applicable to a young professional’s career level. Armour College of Engineering students can attend ELECTRIC POWER and Young Professionals in Power at NO COST.

ELECTRIC POWER State of the Industry Keynote - 8:00 – 9:30 am - Hear Insights from the Senior Advisor to the U.S. Department of Energy Secretary. (Room 40-47)

The Utility Professional of Tomorrow - 3:15 – 4:00 pm - Join in a panel discussion that features professionals from different electric power companies with a wide range of knowledge and expertise on developing the power professionals of tomorrow. Learn more about current critical employment needs, initiatives being implemented to strengthen today’s professional and future employment needs, and more. (EP Theater)

Opening Night Networking Reception - 4:00 – 5:30 pm - Cigars, a jazz band, Chicago-themed food and more! (Show Floor)

Wednesday, April 22nd

Executive Roundtable - 8:30 – 10:00 am - Fundamental Changes in the Power Sector Hear about fundamental changes in the power sector from NRG, Dynegy, Duke Energy, Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA) & Exelon Generation executives! (Room 40-47)

Launching a Successful Career - 11:00 – 11:45 am - Four Emerging Leaders Share their Journey (...so far!) — Hear from 4 panelists aged 28-32 who have earned success. Gain insight and interact with these emerging leaders as they describe their career path highlights thus far and share lessons that helped spur their rapid success. (EP Theater)

North American Power Industry Outlook - 12:45 – 1:15 pm - Understand what changing natural gas prices, pending environmental legislation, aging infrastructure and increasing plant retirements mean for the industry's future. (EP Theater)

Baseball Bash - 3:30 – 5:30 pm - with prize giveaways, hot dogs, pretzels, pitching machines and more! (Show Floor)

Beyond the Sessions

ELECTRIC POWER brings together more power generators than any other event, so networking is a big component. Themed networking receptions create opportunities to expand your circle by establishing new, business-building connections. ELECTRIC POWER also has 250+ exhibitors that give young professionals a chance to get hands-on experience. It’s an opportunity to see and test the latest advancements in the industry and talk with the engineers who developed them.
